"Faktalietsonta" ym. - ilmastokeskustelua halutaan rajoittaa?

... aseekseen kulttuurisodat. Kirjoittaja mukaanlukien.

Heikki Jokipii:
Hiukan kiusallisia täytyy tällaisten silloin tällöin esiin putkahtavien tutkimusten olla, nk. mainstreamin kannattajille:
New Study Claims the CO2 Increase Since 1850 Can Account for Only Half of Modern Global Warming
--- Quote ---Radiative models estimating the temperature effects of increasing CO2 to 420 ppm indicate 0.64°C of the alleged 1.2°C warming since the 19th century could be explained by CO2 increases.
--- End quote ---
Kuitenkin siinä on melkoinen rauhoittava sanoma. Jos n. vuosisadassa lämpötila on hiilidioksidin takia lämmennyt noin vähän, oletettavaa on, ettei se (noin) seuraavan vuosisadan aikana lämpene sen enempää. Tai jopa vähemmän: hiilidioksidin vaikutuksen yleisesti tiedetään olevan logaritminen. Eli koko ajan suhteessa vähenevä. Pariisin sopimus tulisi itsestään pidetyksi.
Heikki Jokipii:
Mainstreamin optimismia:
IEA: Päästöt saavuttavat huippunsa vuonna 2025
--- Quote ---Vielä viime vuonna IEA sanoi, ettei päästöhuippua ole näköpiirissä. Viimeaikaiset investoinnit tuuli- ja aurinkoenergiaan saavat järjestön kuitenkin uskomaan päästöjen alkavan tasaantua tai vähetä.

Skeptikkojen pessimismiä:
Goldman Sachs’ Jeff Currie: ‘$3.8 Trillion of Investment in Renewables Moved Fossil Fuels from 82% to 81% of Overall Energy Consumption’ in 10 Years
--- Quote ---[..] Ten years ago, they were at 82. So though, all of that investment in renewables, you’re talking about 3.8 trillion, let me repeat that $3.8 trillion of investment in renewables moved fossil fuel consumption from 82 to 81 percent, of the overall energy consumption. But you know, given the recent events and what’s happened with the loss of gas and replacing it with coal, that number is likely above 82.” … The net of it is clearly we haven’t made any progress.”

Käytetty raha siis eurooppalaisittain 3 800 miljardia dollaria 10 vuoden aikana. Tuolla tuloksella.
Heikki Jokipii:

WMO: “More bad news for the planet: greenhouse gas levels hit new highs”
--- Quote ---“WMO’s Greenhouse Gas Bulletin has underlined, once again, the enormous challenge – and the vital necessity – of urgent action to cut greenhouse gas emissions and prevent global temperatures rising even further in the future,” said WMO Secretary-General Prof. Petteri Taalas.
“The continuing rise in concentrations of the main heat-trapping gases, including the record acceleration in methane levels, shows that we are heading in the wrong direction,” he said.

Mukana kaavio: WMO CH4 Annual Increase.
Mutta mitä tehtiin oikein 2000-luvun alussa? Silloin metaanipitoisuus muutamana vuonna laski. En muista mitään erikoista tapahtuneen. Ainakaan emme kuluttaneet olennaisesti vähemmän naudanlihaa juuri niinä muutamina vuosina. Erityisesti emme vuonna 2004.
Heikki Jokipii:
The Climate ‘Crisis’ Isn’t What it Used to Be (by Judith Curry)
--- Quote ---Growing realization by the climate establishment that the threat of future warming has been cut in half over the past 5 years.
Summary: The climate “catastrophe” isn’t what it used to be. Circa 2013 with publication of the IPCC AR5 Report, RCP8.5 was regarded as the business-as-usual emissions scenario, with expected warming of 4 to 5 oC by 2100. Now there is growing acceptance that RCP8.5 is implausible, and RCP4.5 is arguably the current business-as-usual emissions scenario. Only a few years ago, an emissions trajectory that followed RCP4.5 with 2 to 3 oC warming was regarded as climate policy success. As limiting warming to 2 oC seems to be in reach (now deemed to be the “threshold of catastrophe”), the goal posts were moved in 2018 to reduce the warming target to 1.5 oC. Climate catastrophe rhetoric now seems linked to extreme weather events, most of which are difficult to identify any role for human-caused climate change in increasing either their intensity or frequency.

Samanlainen muistikuva, tosin vähän kauempaa:
--- Quote from: Heikki Jokipii on 12.02.22 - klo:05:14 ---Minä muistelen vielä varhaisempia aikoja. :(
--- End quote ---
Mutta vielä tämä:
--- Quote ---Once you include alternative scenarios of natural variability, temperature change by 2100 could easily be below 2oC and even 1.5oC. Recall that this warming is with reference to a baseline of 1850-1900; 1.1oC warming has already occurred.
